Technical Requirements

The Systems Operations Engineer shall work in the Operations Department as a member of the System Operations Team. The tasks will typically include:

·         System engineering and coordination of the operations of the operational services and ensure compliance with the operational service specifications and operational interface agreements;

·         Support to the Multi-Mission Systems including operational validation of releases, database maintenance, user administration, investigation of system anomalies and the raising, tracking and regression testing of Anomaly Reports;

·         Support to the System Operations Team for the yearly update of the Operations Department Mid-term Evolution Plan in particular for the Multi-Mission components of the operational systems, proposing evolutions to the operational systems to improve overall operational service availability;

·         Participate in the preparations for future Programs including the definition of Multi-Mission User requirements;

·         Support to the operational validation of new programs, including the configuration and validation of operational systems, and in particular the Multi-Mission Elements;

·         Support the definition of user requirements for Multi-Mission system evolutions, participation in the implementation and organisation of the validation of associated changes;

·         Analysis of major system changes due to control centre equipment relocations ensuring continuity of services during reengineering activities and participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling & planning meetings;

·         Participate in Operations Department development projects related to major system changes;

·         Coordinate the production of Multi-Mission related system procedures and training of the operations teams;

·         Participation in any changes due to the implementation of Business Continuity processes;

·         Support the update and validation of a System Contingency Operations Guide and the interactions with EUMETSAT external partners.

Academic Requirements

Academic and work related requirements:

·         University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline;

·         A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of System Engineering in high-availability operational systems;

For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, in-depth knowledge and at least 5 years of experience in:

·         Real-time spacecraft and ground segment operations;

·         System Monitoring (and Control) Tools and Techniques;

·         The operational validation of real-time systems and associated operational procedures;

·         The definition of user requirements;

·         Good command of English (verbal and written) and able to work calmly and correctly under stress and to work with the minimum of supervision.

Desirable Skills

·         Change Management;

·         Communications Systems operations;

·         Storage Network Infrastructure operations;

·         LEO and GEO Earth Observation satellite ground segments;

·         Operations coordination with international organisations;

·         On-call support to 24/7 operations;

·         Preparation and Presentation of training to operations personnel.
