Technical Requirements

The main tasks of the position will be:

  • Support the assessment of readiness of payloads for inclusion into the Strategic and Tactical Planning (input to IDRD main book and annexes) and Increment definition (Feasibility Assessments, Monthly Status Meeting, ESA IRD establishment)
  • Support development/review/implementation of payload end-to-end scenarios, operations concepts and implementation plans
  • Support the follow up of the work performed by the User Support and Operation Support Centre’s (USOC’s)
  • Support the definition of the utilisation long-term planning
  • Support the management of the Payload Integration Managers (PIM’s)
  • Support the management of the Industrial Organisation (IOT), for increment integration activities.
  • Providing the integration management function of the payloads/experiments pre-selected for the ISS, vis a vis Users, USOCs, Payload Developers and Implementation Organisations, IOT
  • Support to establishing and maintaining requirements, plans and procedures for the preparation and implementation of the relevant activities;
  • Support the coordinating, reviewing and accepting payload/experiment data products, equipment and flight packages.
  • Providing relevant support to equipment acceptance and Certification of Flight Readiness activities, as necessary
  • Support the development and management of schedule of payload-unique integration product deliveries
  • Support the preparation of contractual documentation, such as Statements of Work (IOT, USOCs, other Industries)
  • Support the various ESA Boards, Working Groups and Teams, such as Monthly Status Meeting (MSM), Increment Coordination Meeting (ICM), etc.
  • Inputs/comments to development of integration products
  • Inputs/comments to Strategic and Tactical Planning documentation
  • Inputs for Increment Definition and Increment Integration
  • Inputs/comments to end-to-end scenarios, operations concepts and implementation plans
  • Inputs/comments to USOCs deliverables
  • Comments to design reviews data package (PDR, CDR, FAR)
  • Inputs for SOWs and Work Packages definition for  implementation of engineering/integration activities
  • Inputs for development/update of ESA processes
  • Meetings notes and Activity reports

Academic Requirements

· University degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering

· Several years of experience in Development and/or Engineering and Integration activities related to Payloads for the International Space Station programme.

· Fluent in English; knowledge of another member state language is an asset

· High level of flexibility and willingness to travel

· Good organization skills, good communication skills

· Ability to cope with pressure

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outside world
