Technical Requirements

The main activity is to provide payload activity coordination as part of the integrated mission management function in the Flight Operations section of the Columbus Operations division.

The integrated mission management function comprises a team of Mission Directors (MD) and Payload Activity Coordinators (PAC). One MD and one PAC will be assigned to each ISS double increment. They will manage the preparation and execution of the respective increment as well as the post-increment activities. Since the mission management function has an end-to-end responsibility for the respective increment, i.e. for the overall “mission success”, a strong coordination, interaction and team work between the MD and the PAC is essential. The PAC is the key technical support function to the MD.

The main tasks of the position will be:

· Payload Operations Products

o   Payload Operations Data File (PODF) management

o   Review of USOC and ESA operations documentation

o   Coordinate ESA-USOC ops product interfaces on a regular basis

· Support to Payload operations preparation

o   Payload pool monitoring

o   Participation in the monthly payload readiness status meeting

· Increment management support

o   Support to the definition of increment requirements and review of their implementation

o   Participation in the Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) campaign and follow up of Open Work

o   Coordination with ESA public relations

o   Participation in the ESA / NASA bilateral coordination process

o   Payload imagery coordination and tracking

o   Act as a point-of-contact for ESA experiments outside Columbus

· Post-flight activities

o   Coordination of crew operations debriefing for ESA

o   Coordination of the increment lessons-learned process

Academic Requirements

· University degree in engineering or natural sciences

· At least 4 years’ experience in the technical field

· Experience in ISS Operations would be an asset

· Excellent command of the English language Result-oriented and pro-active working style

· Ability to work in a highly complex project environment

· Good organization and planning skills, good communication skills

· Ability to cope with pressure
