Technical Requirements

LSE Space is looking for 2 experienced Engineers (m/f) in order to fulfill the duty as

Data Services System Architecture Engineers (with either Dissemination Focus or Archive Focus)

for our customer EUMETSAT in Darmstadt/Germany.

As a member of the Data Services team, the key person shall provide system architecture engineering support primarily for maintenance and evolution but also for routine operations.

The particular focus of this post is in the area of archive or multicast dissemination systems.

 

The tasks of these positions include in particular:

Maintenance:

·         performing unit and non-regression testing;

·         performing the acceptance and integration of externally developed software;

·         maintaining existing system and software documentation;

·         analysing system and software anomalies;

·         designing system and software corrections/enhancements;

·         providing advice and guidance with respect to maintenance issues;

Evolution:

·         supporting the generation and analysis of user requirements;

·         specifying system, software and tool requirements;

·         prototyping system, software and tool enhancements;

·         designing system, software and tool enhancements;

·         supporting the development of system, software and tool enhancements;

·         supporting the integration, verification and validation testing;

·         generating and maintaining technical documentation:

·         system design and design justification documents;

·         interface control documents;

·         verification test plans, test cases and procedures;

·         maintenance procedures;

·         participating in technical meetings and formal reviews;

Routine Operations:

·         performing configuration changes;

·         deploying new software releases;

·         supporting verification and validation testing;

·         providing second-line support;

·         providing on-call support;

·         providing training to the operations analysts and controllers

Academic Requirements

University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.

Specific Requirements

Required experience and skills are:

System Engineering Experience/Skills:

·         Analysis of legacy systems;

·         Requirements engineering;

·         Development of architectural evolutions;

·         High-Availability systems;

·         Virtualisation;

·         Cloud computing;

·         Grid computing;

·         Distributed web-based applications;

·         Big data management;

·         Supporting internal and external users;

·         Exploiting industry support;

·         Standard file transfer protocols (FTP, FTPS, SFTP);

·         Multicast applications;

·         DVB-S/DVB-S2 reception;

·         Supporting internal and external users

Software Engineering Experience/Skills:

·         Software development and/or maintenance using an object-oriented approach and

·         following a formal life cycle, i.e. requirements capture/analysis, design, implementation, test and operations;

·         Configuration management and anomaly reporting/tracking tools;

 

Perfect command of English, verbal and written.

 

A practical knowledge of the following technologies and tools would be an advantage:

·         Advanced Linux and Windows system administration;
